What is the Escola Guignard Lithography Project

 

This project is dedicated to research and education aiming to strengthen and highlight the importance of artistic production in lithography at Escola Guignard-UEMG, carrying out editions of prints of its important artists who worked at the school, artists teachers who still work and artists who work somehow they got involved with the school, justifying and strengthening the teaching of lithography, as a current and living technique. The Atelier Litografia Guignard is aimed at the academic community, students and professors from other UEMG units, including plastic artists, admirers of the lithography technique, curators, national and international institutions that seek knowledge and information about the art of lithographic printing.

Conceived and guided by the lithography professor Nara Firme since 2017, this

project provides a deeper understanding of the artistic process of lithography for the

scholarship students, in addition to highlighting the importance of the production of lithography,

performing editions of engravings by artists from Minas Gerais. In this way, this rich and strengthening interaction reinforces the historical and artistic importance of lithography in Minas Gerais, and of the important and precious atelier of Escola Guignard,

producing a collection of prints.
